Phil G William as Wilfred Owen

Phil G William as Wilfred Owen

Liverpool icon and satirist John Gorman has written and directed the new touring version of Dean Johnson’s Wilfred Owen musical, Bullets And Daffodils.

The ex-Scaffold and Tiswas frontman joins a long line of illustrious contributors such as actor Christopher Timothy and guitar legend David Gilmour. The Pink Floyd guitarist has granted permission for a solo recording to be used as part of the show’s score.

Dean says, “Mr Gilmour wanted to do everything he could do to help and sanctioned the track There’s No Way Out Of Here gratis and waivering the licence and publishing fees, so it was in every sense a donation.”

John Gorman has been on board since day one of this project. He has always been at the vanguard of cutting edge projects.

Commenting on what drew him to the project, Mr Gorman said, “Wilfred Owen died a week before the end of the First World War: the war to end all wars. Owen’s poems demonstrate the gruesome awfulness that happened to these men through no fault of their own. Dean brings to the foreground the message that the war is not a good thing, which I’m behind 100%.”

A special preview of Bullets And Daffodils takes place at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton on 8 March, and visits The Forum Theatre, Chester on 10 March, and The Citadel, St Helens, on 16 March.

David Gilmour's Bright Yellow Beach Hut

David Gilmour's Bright Yellow Beach Hut

There is more trouble for the Gilmour family in Hove, Sussex as the local council are on their case about a beach hut they have erected on their property in which they store their bicycles.

The authorities are not content with putting their son Charlie Gilmour in prison for 16 months and want more blood, this time threatening to prosecute the family if they do not remove the hut!

The council say that the hut at the £3m property is not fitting with the local area which is a “conservation area”. It has been decided that this offending hut must be gone!

David’s wife – mother of jailed Charlie – appealed against the authorities but lost and now has to remove the bright yellow hut that the council have deemed to be an “eyesore”. It would seem if you look at this hut for too long it will cause eye pain that local ophthalmologists would not be able to cope with!

A Brighton and Hove City Council spokeswoman said in a statement: ‘We have had a complaint from a member of the public and are legally obliged to act.

‘As the planning appeal has failed, we have told the owners that the hut must be gone by October 1.

‘If that doesn’t happen, we would have no option but to issue an enforcement notice.

‘Failure to comply with that means either prosecution or the council may remove the hut and charge the householder.’

Perhaps the colourful beach hut was inspired by the one on Brighton Promenade which Polly Tweeted her own picture of with David Gilmour stood in front of with one of their dogs.

It is madness that this beach hut story is currently the most read news story on the BBC News website!!

Personally I think the governent should be abolished and keep out of our lives and gardens!

The Times Rich List 2011

The Times Rich List 2011

It is that time of year again when the British quality newspaper The Times publishes it’s “rich list” showing all sorts of people’s wealth that they have accumulated.

Whether you think it good or not that individuals have that sort of money, I am pleased to report that Roger Waters came in at number 22 and David Gilmour in at 27.

No doubt Roger’s tour of The Wall has helped put him £20m ahead of David!

I wouldn’t worry too much about David though as £85m is still rather a lot! lol

You can see a full list here. I would post a link to The Times but you now have to pay to view the website. Boo!

Feel free to discuss this year’s Rich List on the forum.

Still under construction but here is a new Roger Waters website with potential to go somewhere good in the future as the tour gets under way! Check it out and link to it if you want to encourage its development. If you haev any ideas about it, then please do get in touch.

Roger Waters Tours.com

I just threw it together in 20 mins but will probably end up putting something a bit more technilogically enjoyable on there as soon as I know when the tour will commence when announced on Monday.

I will probably end up adding a blog to it similar to this one but focused completely on following the tour and keeping it for historical reference into the future. I can only go on so much on a Pink Floyd website about poor old Rog but, saying that, I did go on quite a bit about David Gilmour back in 2006 on his On An Island Tour and subsequent release of the David Gilmour Live in Gdansk DVD.
