"Why Pink Floyd..." Pink Floyd - Re-mastered CDs, DVDs, SACDs and Downloads

"Why Pink Floyd..." Pink Floyd - Re-mastered CDs, DVDs, SACDs and Downloads

The new “Why Pink Floyd” mammoth collection of new re-mastered albums, new boxsets and digital releases shall be promoted with a new official Pink Floyd website.

The site is due to go live very soon as per the image to the right which currently occupies the home page of the site.

I have been guessing at various URLs to try and reveal a sneak peak at the new site but it appears it is not loaded to the server just yet!

Why Pink Floyd – New Albums and Boxsets

The entire back catalogue of Pink Floyd has been remastered and will be released under the title of “Why Pink Floyd…” and features three groups of releases and even a new best of called A Foot In The Door. The collection will feature rare songs, unreleased songs and unheard pieces, including a song from Household Objects.

Discover - This group features all of the studio albums remastered by James Guthrie. The albums will be available separately or as part of a new box set. Lots of new artwork by long term Pink Floyd artwork designer Storm Thorgerson.

Experience - Takes the Discover album and adds another CD of joy and some other goodies to allow you to experience the album at a greater depth.

Immersion - Three of the albums in Why Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall) will be presented each in its own big box set with lots of DVDs, CDs and other fun memorabilia. These look absolutely brilliant and I cannot wait to get my hands on them!

Why Pink Floyd – Release Dates

The release dates are in three phases on 26th September 2011, 7th November 2011 and 27th February 2012.

Pink Floyd The Wall 1980/1981 DVD in the making

Pink Floyd The Wall 1980/1981 DVD in the making

Back in the 1980′s when Pink Floyd originally toured The Wall live in 1980 and 1981, there was filming at some of the shows direct onto film. However, when watching the film back, Roger Waters was not too impressed with the resulting quality that he was presented with. As such, the films have never seen the light of day besides the occasional clip here and there.

The Wall on DVD

Well, in several interviews over the past few months, Roger and others have been saying that the original film is being worked on with modern tools that can improve the quality much like Pink Floyd’s P.U.L.S.E. got a makeover and re-presented on DVD despite it being filmed to video tape and not the high quality film like the original Wall was filmed to.

Anyway, the current tour in 2011 is being filmed at London’s O2 arena and also in Greece at the end of the tour. Considering that Roger Waters gained sole control of the rights to the wall as part of his settlement when he left Pink Floyd, I should imagine there could be either a single DVD with an excellent feature of an original Wall show on there or, perhaps, a double DVD with lots of materials from both. I would be rather pleased with either of those options.

Anyway, take a minute to share you thoughts on this post by writing a comment below. Don’t be shy!

Things Regarding The Wall to see

Still under construction but here is a new Roger Waters website with potential to go somewhere good in the future as the tour gets under way! Check it out and link to it if you want to encourage its development. If you haev any ideas about it, then please do get in touch.

Roger Waters Tours.com

I just threw it together in 20 mins but will probably end up putting something a bit more technilogically enjoyable on there as soon as I know when the tour will commence when announced on Monday.

I will probably end up adding a blog to it similar to this one but focused completely on following the tour and keeping it for historical reference into the future. I can only go on so much on a Pink Floyd website about poor old Rog but, saying that, I did go on quite a bit about David Gilmour back in 2006 on his On An Island Tour and subsequent release of the David Gilmour Live in Gdansk DVD.
