I used to think Corporal Clegg was an ungodly mess of a tune, then I heard the mono mix of that track - which omits some of the noisy guitar overdubs in the verses & just leaves in the power chords.

Honestly it sounds far better than the stereo mix.. well worth checking it out.

"Seamus" is pretty awful, but I read somewhere that it was added to the album more as a joke than anything else. The story I read was that a friend of theirs brought in a dog that howled at them when they played. They were apparently a little drunk and wrote a song around that premise. When they listened to it later they thought "wouldn't it be funny if we added it to Meddle?"
Nobody quote me on that, I may be very wrong. But it's the story I remember.
But yeah, "Seamus" is pretty bad. Feel free to break out the pitchforks here, but I also feel like "Vegetable Man" is a bit of a mess. I love the lyrical idea, but the music is just kind of yuck.
Also, "A New Machine". I'm willing to give Gilmour and crew a lot of leeway for aMLoR (because I quite like that album), but those two tracks aggravate me.

Yeah, harmonica apparently is what sets the dog a howlin' but still...joke or not, and I always heard it was, it still doesn't seem worthy of an official release. Also have read that Vegetable Man was not really the intended final version, more of a glorified demo if you like and that makes sense given how raw it was...but who knows for sure. I don't.

Well if it is a demo then that makes far more sense, but I can't understand why it was ascended to this almost legendary status by others.

Likely because it was denied to the public for so long. We often want most what we cannot have which gives it added weight. Eventually as we all know it finally did come out. Personally I do like it but I can see why it was never intended for release originally.

Bike?? How can you say that???
The stereo version of the song is a bit massy but the mono version sounds much better, the composition is awesome and the lyrics are fun. What else could you ask for? I think this is one of the greatest songs of this band

Bike's not Pink Floyd's worst song but I don't think it's all that great, regardless of the version. It's a novelty song on LSD and if Syd hadn't written it, it'd be forgotten about by now.

That's an easy one. Everything contained in Momentary Lapse, The Divison Bell and The Endless River is just awful. Pain in the ear. Middle-of-the-road stuff.

Floyd related songs you can't unhear would be the extended disco remix of rattle that lock - one heard never forgotten - unfortunatly

Gawd I remember that one... why Gilmour saw fit to release that one at all is beyond me...
