Barrett never actually performed. He was only in Pink Floyd for his good looks. His parts were recorded by unknown session musicians. Problems came when he insisted to be heard. He didn't want to lipsynch any longer, which was his only task. Pink Floyd then decided to turn off the spotlights, making him invisible and obsolete. Later they invited him to be the dancer for 'Shine On Your Crazy Diamond', but abandoned those plans when they saw he was getting bald because of all the perms.
This is the only true story. Barrett told me this personally, yesterday in the supermarket.

The Publius Enigma was actually solved in 1996 by lucky fan Michael Hunt. The prize was a brief phone conversation with David Gilmour himself. Hunt used the opportunity to tell Gilmour that his favourite song had always been "A Spanish Piece". In response, Gilmour reportedly hissed "Piss the fuck off" and hung up.

Hunt was later sent a parcel containing a scathing post card and a (used) pair of Mason's boxers.
