Thanks Mr. Pink Floyd!!!
It looks classy though, as a set of nice collector items.

A bit odd but it seems as though Amazon UK have withdrawn the box set from the site stating it has been removed from sale following a complaint from a customer it is not as described, seems a little bit drastic.

Stumbled across this stereo L&R channels only mix from the Blu Ray 5.1 release.
It sounds so dry, particularly vocals and percussion.
Well worth a listen if (like me) you have so far resisted purchasing.

That's made me realise how beautiful Cluster One really is.
I cling to hope that a fraction of The Endless River will have remnants of that track.

Who made that art-work on the DVD label?
It doesn't look like Storm Thorgerson to me.
I think the art-work looks rather cheap.
Maybe one of Gilmour's (grand)children made it?
Anyway, it's the first time I see a female Bigfoot.
Also the artwork on the DVD-cover (on the left) looks kitsch to me.
Is THIS Pink Floyd in 2014?

Re: #TDB20
Apparently the artworks come from the new Marooned video, which is also included on this new DVD.

Re: #TDB20
The artwork comes from a mural in a post office in Pripyat, today Ukraine. During the 1970s and 1980s, Pripyat was a thriving city in the Soviet Union comprised mostly of workers from Chernobyl nuclear power plant. After the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, Pripyat had to be evacuated completely and has remained uninhabited to this day, with most of the city remaining just the way it was on the day of the disaster. Today, Pripyat is open for rare visitors under military escort and has become some sort of a monument to Soviet monumentalism during the communist era.Wolfpack wrote:Who made that art-work on the DVD label?
The particular mural depicted on the DVD label is one of the most iconic sites in Pripyat, showcasing the Soviet preoccupation with space exploration while they couldn't really keep things at bay down on Earth. It is kitsch, yes, but the message it conveys is universal: we are all so worried about what goes on in the world that we often forget about our own backyard. The new 'Marooned' video says just that: we have a beautiful world and we fucked it all up. Personally, I think the video is very thought provoking, emotional and very well made (except for that girl in the very last shot, who is so obviously pasted to the background), and the images of Pripyat were chosen very wisely to point out the general idea.

Re: #TDB20
I may have a different view on that. First, nothing is wrong with "preoccupation" with space exploration - it is much better than being preoccupied with exploitation and wars. As for keeping things at bay, well, until Chernobyl and Afghanistan, there was peace and safety in the entire country - including in Ukraine (which can not be said today, can it?)Hudini wrote:The particular mural depicted on the DVD label is one of the most iconic sites in Pripyat, showcasing the Soviet preoccupation with space exploration while they couldn't really keep things at bay down on Earth. I am not sure if I am happy with that Marooned video either, as it seems to be lining up with the nowadays so popular "blame Russia" propaganda. Otherwise why did not they focus on Japanese Fukushima disaster instead, as a great amount of radioactive water is being dumped into the ocean every second (and the plant can still explode any minute, as the melting rods have not been removed yet)? Or the oil sand excavation in Alberta, Canada, where huge lands covered by forests and meadows are being turned into moon-like landscapes?
Lastly, I would be hesitant to call that mural kitschy (I am an artist myself). It is a simple, symbolic, motivating - and if we look it with open minds: visually quite pleasing - piece with a positive message. As for real kitsch, well, North America is over-flooded by them: those things are downright ugly and completely meaningless.
