Wedding Dance

Post by Lillolino »

Dear all,

I recently registered on this forum and already have used the search function.
My boyfriend and I will get married next year. We both feel connected to Pink Floyd, have even been to a concert of David Gilmour last year (unfortunately we are too young to have had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd ...)
and have some songs that helped us to some troubles (although the lyrics wouldn´t always fit so much!). So we were thinking if there would be a possibility to perform our wedding dance to a Pink Floyd song. I would like Wish You Were Here or Comfortably Numb most, but am also open to other ideas.
Has anybody any experience with classical dancing to a Pink Floyd song?
We are no great dancers but would invest in a teacher if needed.
Thank you all very much

It's an instrumental but have you heard "Mudmen" from their Obscured By Clouds album?
I would avoid stuff from The Wall, especially "Don't Leave Me Now"!!
Have you heard "If" from the album Atom Heart Mother? Not only is it a love song before das Waters had eine hearten broken, it does have a slow beat when the guitar comes in. The easiest to slow dance to.

Congratulations by the way!

Thank you very much, Jimy,
Oh, "if" is really beautiful. I really didn´t know it before.... We will listen to it together I think and try to find out if it could be our song!

the slide guitar passage from shine on second half from wish you were here might help. I've seen olympic gymnasts perform to it, same goes for marooned though more nostalgic. whats u the deal has a running rhythm that might work, even if the lyrics are a bit over the place. you could also slow dance to wearing the inside out or coming back to life.

our wedding dance was actually to David Gilmour's live version of Don't from the lieber and stoller tribute concert (originally recorded by Elvis). Look it up on youtube or applemusc, and it is available as an extra on his In Concert DVD (which is where I got it from much to my wife's surprise as I'd performed it for her before)

edit: couldn't help myself: avoid welcome to the machine! lol

I'm not sure whether this PF album might help out or not.

A Collection of Great Dance Songs-Pink Floyd.
