fsusbexdisk.sys - what the devil is this??

Post by Keith Jordan »

This process was trying to start on my computer fsusbexdisk.sys buy Kaspersky stopped it for me. Does anybody know what it is? I couldn't seem to find anything on the internet about it. Odd.

The only thing I have installed on my computer recently was the Samsung New PC Tools that came with my new Samsung Pixon phone. But this little devil has only appeared today and I installed that a couple of days ago!

Any thoughts my good chaps?

That page doesnt say it is malware, just that particular company has not classified it as anything in particular as far as I can tell! It could be a legitimate part of something on my computer. I just don't know. I shall not let it run for now though.

Kaspersky couldn't find anything wrong with it in terms of it being sypware/malware. It just flagged it up as acting unusually and asked me what I wanted to do with it. Kaspersky is good like that with its heuristics.

Kaspersky is an ordinary piece of crap. I bet your computer is full of malware it doesn't even see. I used to have bunch of protection programs and I used to think my machine was clean until I tried the new version of Avast. It found literally hundreds of those things neither of the programs I used to have (including Kaspersky) ever found. All you need to do is to go to the official Avast site, download the new home edition (and of course register it - it's for free) and update the definitions file. Then run a thorough scan and you'll be amazed to see what's inside your machine.

It seemed to do well in the reviews for the 2009 version I have.

you could always do a housecall scan (trend micro's online scanner)

i have found it to be a good third line of defense.

Get hold of Spybot search and destroy its free check for up-dates and run it.

They won't tell you it's spyware until you discover it. Bastards.

Don't put too much trust in the reviews of any program, especially if it's an antivirus. Those reviews are usually written by the people within the firm, so it's sort of an advertisement. It's funny how Vista did well in the reviews before it became widely spread and people realized all of it's numerous flaws.

I have downloaded the latest version of Ad Aware so will give that a whirl and see what happens. Is Spybot better and, if so, why?

I think that it's not a question whats better here... These programs search
slightly different kinds of shite on your comp. You should use them both.
