To see the wealth of knowledge contained within the forum, you need to browse through it as you would a book! To turn from page to page, we click on "links". These links take us to the desired page. Links can be text links or image links.

The home page of the forum (or the index page) contains all the different forums. A forum is just a grouping of topics which are related to one another. An example of a forum is the "Syd Barrett" forum. This forum contains "topics" for discussion within it. You can click on the topic titles to view that particular topic, scroll up and down, read the posts people have made. To get back to the forum home page or the list of topics page within a particular forum (like Syd Barrett) there are links at the top of the topics list. Find out more below.

So, you are at the forum home page. You have just entered and you see the page below.

We have the site logo at the top of the page. If you click on that, we return to the above starting page.

Then we have the menu labeled above. You can view site statistics, search the forum, view membership list, view/modify your profile, check your private messages and log out. These will be useful links for you.

Just below the menu, there is some information about the forum, when you last viewed etc. And under that is a link to return to the forum home page. When you enter a forum or topic, there will be other links there too. On to that in a moment.

I have highlighted one of the forums above (number 2). As said previously, a forum contains topics that are similar in some way. If you click on the forum title, like "Rules for forum" we will be taken to that page or chapter if you like similar to that below.

Notice that the page is the same as the home page but instead of a list of forums, we have a list of topics instead to choose from. Click on any of the topics titles you want to read. Notice that every topic has some info about it on the right hand side of the screen. You can see who posted the last post. There is a picture of an arrow pointing to a page next to the posters name. If you click on that, you are taken to the last page of the topic to the last post. This is useful for popular topics where you want to reply.

Let's have a look at the "Should we have rules"topic at the top.

I have brought to attention 3 important areas.

1 - A topic may be on more than one page. You can select pages from these links.

2 - This link is on all pages to go back to the forum home page where the forums are listed. You can also click the site logo the top of page as well!

3 - This is a link back to the forum you just came from.

You simple scroll up and down to view the messages and you can go through the pages by selecting the page numbers or clicking in the next >> link. You will notice that, at the bottom of all the post on that page, the page links are at the bottom of the page as well!
