Forum Tutorials | Register for the forum

Aim of Tutorial

To enable new users to register to use the forum.

The knowledge

In order to view other people's messages and post your own messages on the forum for all to read, you must first register. Registering is important as it helps make the forum a "safe" environment. People have to take the trouble to register so helps keep some of the idiots out. Also, it enables you to send "private messages" to other users.

Demonstration

Go to the forum home page and then click on "Register" at the top of the page as shown in the picture below.

You will now be taken to the registration agreement page shown below. These are just some binding rules and you should given them a quick read. Choose the link which is relevant to you at the bottom of the rules. The one highlighted saying you agree to the rules and are over 13 is the one most will choose.

You will now come to the page below.

Now choose a "username" that you will be known by on the board. The first part of your email address is usually a good choice or your name. I use "Keith Jordan" as my username.

Enter your email address that you want to use for the forum. You can decide if you want people to see it or not.

Now choose a password that you are going to remember and re-enter it below that one.

You can continue to change any of the setting you like on the form on the page as shown in the picture above. You can add your ICQ number, Messenger stuff etc. Your "Time Zone" will be a good one.

Now click on submit at the bottom of the forum and your account will be created. You will be taken to the page below.

You will not be able to use your account until you have "activated your account". Go and check your email and you will find a link in the email that you should click on in order to "activate" your account.

If for some reason the link has been damaged by your email software the you will have to copy and paste the link into your browsers address bar and either press enter or click on go in your browser. The link should look like the one below.

When you have done this, you account will be ready to use and you can now log in which is the next tutorial.

Apply knowledge

Go to the forum and click on register at top of page, enter details and submit form. Then go to your email and click on link there to activate your account. When you have done this, you can go and log into the forum.
