The BBC are to broadcast David Gilmour's Arnold Layne music video featuring David Bowie on Saturday 6th January 2007.

The video, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London for a forthcoming DVD, will be broadcast on the Top of the Pops 2 program on BBC 2. It will be broadcast between 5:05pm - 5:40pm.

According to the TV Listings guide Radio Times...

Generous Donors Keep NPF Alive!

Resources & Links

Discuss on Forum | Full List of Donors (MS Excel) or Full List (webpage)

Discuss on the forumThanks to the kind donations of 49 people, the money has been raised to rent a virtual dedicated server for the next 6 months for NPF!

Not only was the original target of USD $558 raised, but double was raised taking us to $1,116.68 in just two days! As such, I can rent a second server to increase the reliability of NPF!

Alpha Server: Will host forum, news, magazine, photos, encyclopedia and newsletter and data backups from the beta server. Everything on neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk basically. Splitting the main NPF site and the tracker will mean a faster loading NPF and a lot less downtime due to server overloading!

Beta Server: Will host exceptionally busy NPF Tracker on thepinkfloyd.co.uk and data backups from the alpha server. The tracker site has millions and millions of hits per month due to the nature of the way it works and thus takes a lot of resources, often knocking the main NPF site offline!! Having it on it's own powerful server will benefit the site very much!

The Final Summary

Total Cost (USD) $558.00
Total Donations $1,116.68
Donations Needed -$558.68
Progress 200.12%

What Happens Next

I have already paid for the first server and have been working on setting it up for the past two days! Unfortunately, there have been one or two issues with it so far that I am sorting out. I shall purchase the second one when the money from Paypal.com enters my bank account as it is being done on my Visa.

The current server rental that NPF and the NPF Torrent Tracker are on will expire on 27th January so I have until then so ensure everything has transferred over smoothly!

The Full List of Glorious Donors

I would like to extend a very warm thank you to all of the people below who were generous enough to donate money so that NPF can go on existing for the next 6 months.

Note: the amounts shown are the amounts donated less the Paypal.com transaction fee and then converted into US Dollars using exchange rates as of 27/12/2006.

Win Abbey Road Studio Time and Logo!

Resources & Links

MySpace Arnold Layne Competition | David Gilmour's Official Website | Discuss on the forum

David Bowie, Richard Wright and David GilmourEMI UK has come up with a fun competition for musical combos to win a day's recording in Abbey Road Studios by creating their very own version of Arnold Layne.

Famed Pink Floyd and ex-Hipgnosis designer Storm Thorgerson has also agreed to design a new logo for the winners, which is a prize worth entering for alone.

The idea is that ANY musical entity can enter any version they like (as long as it's their own recording) of Arnold Layne, which they can then upload to a special MySpace page.

All the rules are there, but essentially: you record it; you post it; the numbers get whittled down; and David himself will judge the winner from the Top 3. Winners get a free day recording at Abbey Road, plus a free band logo by the legend that is Storm Thorgerson.

Discuss on the forumThe entrance page has links to the video, the sheet music, the iTunes original, and a pre-order for the digital version of the new Arnold Layne single.

The competition runs until Monday 22nd January 2007, so check it out. Visit the MySpace page for more info.

Ebay Pink Floyd Eyeballs Auction | Crisis Charity Site | /Discuss on Forum

undefinedCrisis are auctioning off a pair of signed PINK FLOYD giant eyeballs, one of only ten specially commissioned pairs, used on the cover of their recent DVD ‘Pulse’, in order to help raise much-needed funds for the homeless this Christmas.

The eyeballs are being auctioned off on eBay from 14th December through to the 20th of December with all proceeds going to the national homelessness charity Crisis. Interested parties can view the lot here. The current price is £16,101 as of 18th December!

David Gilmour, of Pink Floyd, who is a well known supporter of the work of Crisis, commented that, “The eBay auction will not only raise much needed funds for the charity but will also raise awareness of the plight of the homeless at a time of year when they are most vulnerable.

The eyeballs, approx six feet high, have been signed by all members of the band and are famous for featuring on the front cover of the band’s latest DVD, ‘Pulse’ and were used as stage props on the recent press screening for the DVD. The Pulse DVD features the one and only filmed appearance of their legendary album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’.

Discuss! The eBay auction coincided with the TV transmission of Pink Floyd’s ‘A Performance of The Dark Side of the Moon’ filmed at Earls Court in 1994 and which forms part of the ‘Pulse’ DVD. This broadcast was scheduled for the 15th December on BBC1.
