Brian Wernham is a well known collector of Syd Barrett’s original art. Brian has an impending house move and he need to make some space. He has decided to sell one of his two largest and most impressive original Syd pieces.  These pieces can be seen on the official Syd Barrett website in positions 1 and 3 in the three oldest known existing works by Syd. The Fingal’s Cave Podcast recently granted us a rare and intimate glimpse into the life of the enigmatic Syd Barrett through a personal interview with his sister, Rosemary Breen. The hour-long session delved into a multitude of topics, unravelling some of the mystery that has long shrouded her brother. Its a great interview about Syd Barrett and his story and not to be missed. When you think of The Wall album, you might think of all the wonderfully illustrated characters which have become iconic to Pink Floyd fans. Recently at Sotherby’s auction house, the original paintings and illustrations by artist and illustrator Gerald Scarfe sold for tens of thousands of pounds so must be very iconic indeed to someone! The great news is Gerald has a new book out on 25th November 2021 which features 288 pages dedicated to the artwork he created for The Wall. It is a bit pricey at £120 currently on Amazon with an RPP of £150. But for fans with a good deep pocket I am sure it will be well worth it. It is published by Little, Brown. Syd Barrett Art Exhibition in London

The Syd Barrett Art Exhibition at Idea Generation gallery in London is set to open tomorrow to co-incide with the release of the most excellent of books Barrett. You can read NPF very own Barrett book review. The exhibition includes origina Syd Barrett paintings that you can see – lucky that he didn’t destroy them all in his later years. You can see letters he wrote to girlfriends of the past which include all sorts of odd drawings and characters. There is also lots of other things to see too so make sure you pop down and check it all out! The gallery exhibition, organised by Will Shutes (also co-author of the Barrett book) and Brian Wernham, is open until 10th April 2011 so you had best get making plans for transport and hotels now!!
