With the Division Bell soon to have it’s 20th Anniversary, and in addition to the new boxset and LP releases, there is a wonderful new music video for the song Marooned from The Division Bell album.
The video is set in Chernobyl after the famous nuclear power incident caused the entire area to be abandoned due to contamination. Eerie and spooky. You can watch that below.
Marooned is an instrumental piece and was written by David Gilmour and Rick Wright. Many of the songs on The Division Bell album had lyrics written by David’s wife, Polly Samson. Polly would go on to write many of the lyrics on David’s On An Island album too and she is also working on David Gilmour’s new album. Indeed, she was stuck on writing a lyric only recently as revealed on her Twitter account.
Roger Waters & David Gilmour New Albums
I am looking forward to hearing the two new albums from Roger Waters and David Gilmour which could get released this year. Stay tuned for more info on that! I would also expect that they would tour their new albums so there could be some concert announcements this year also which would be amazing.
It was spectacular to watch Roger Waters performing The Wall at Wembley Stadium last year but seeing some new music could be even better. The On An Island tour was also excellent and your humble narrator here saw it at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Great show. Looking forward to some more live performances from Mr Gilmour which, if anything like the On An Island tour, should be most excellent indeed.
Singer Graham Nash has confirmed that David Gilmour is recording a new album at his home in Brighton, England.
Crosby and Nash sang on David Gilmour’s last project On An Island and are lending their vocal expertise to David Gilmour’s new album. And it seems they are working for free!
Singer Graham Nash Confirms David Gilmour New Album
In an interview with Vintage.tv (around 12min 50sec), Graham Nash said, “I’m leaving here and taking the train to Brighton to go and sing with David Gilmour on his new record. No ones… we’re not charging anybody. What the hell would it cost you to have David Crosby and Graham Nash getting on a bloody train to Brighton to sing with you? We are musicians? We love good songs. We will sing them until we are dead.”
Guitar Tech Phil Taylor Confirms David Gilmour New Album
There have been lots of rumours brewing for a while now about a new album from David including his guitar tech saying David is happy with his new Helios guitar effects pedal.
Phil Taylor said, “I think the Helios is really good – I had Andy Jackson down for tests in the studio yesterday and he thought the same. Can I please get another one asap – this week if poss or beginning of next week. I want to replace the ***** pedal in the control room set up with it before David starts recording.”
David Gilmour Tour?
David Gilmour’s last studio album, On An Island, was accompanied by an extensive tour which was enjoyed by many fans around the world. Wouldn’t it be great if David Gilmour was to tour again in 2014 with his new album?
