1970s Pink Floyd Mixing Desk Viewings and Book Update

CH Vintage Audio will be displaying a reproduction of Pink Floyd’s quadrophonic surround sound mixing desk at several Australian Pink Floyd concerts in the UK. You will be able to see the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 1973/1974 original sound system including the re-creation of the Pompeii and Dark Side of the Moon tour 28 channel into 6 surround mix Allen and Heath Mixer. Audio enthusiasts and those interested in the history of large rock PA systems will not want to miss the opportunity to take a look at the desk.

Nick Mason went over to visit Chris Hewitt of CH Vintage Audio when the desk was in Nick’s back garden during the annual Middlewick House Open Garden event in 2024.

You will be able to see the mixer at Birmingham Symphony Hall on 11th and 12th October 2024, Brighton Centre Foyer on 14th November 2024 and Bournemouth BIC on 15th November 2024. You can go see the excellent Australian Pink Floyd whilst you are there too!

The Development of Large Rock Sound Systems Volume 4

Those of you who have been following the history of Pink Floyd as written in the previous three volumes of The Development of Large Rock Sound Systems then you will be pleased to know that volume 4 is now available to purchase via the publishers website which was released in August 2024.

Recreation of Pink Floyd Mixer at Allen and Heath

Last month, on 21st August 2024, Andy Bereza and Ivor Taylor returned to Allen and Heath for the first time since the mid 1970s. Andy designed and built the Pompeii and DSOTM mixer and Andy and Ivor designed and built the Knebworth 1975 mixer. The Allen and Heath Pink Floyd desk re creation and the original DSOTM PA was recently at PLASA Kensington Olympia, London on the 1st 2nd and 3rd September 2024. Andy Bereza was there on Monday 2nd Sept.
