Roger Waters’ “Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking” tour in 1984-85 was his first solo concert tour, following his departure from Pink Floyd. The tour was in support of his debut solo album, “The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking”.

The tour kicked off in Stockholm on June 16, 1984, and included a nine-concert European leg with performances in cities like Paris, London, Rotterdam, and Zurich. The North American leg began on July 17, 1984, with shows in cities such as Hartford, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Montreal.

The setlist featured a mix of Pink Floyd classics and songs from Waters’ solo album. Notably, Eric Clapton joined Waters on stage for several performances, adding to the excitement. The second set of the concert was dedicated to performing the entire “The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking” album, complemented by visuals from Nicolas Roeg and animations by Gerald Scarfe.

Despite the star power and elaborate performances, the tour faced challenges, including underwhelming ticket sales and mixed reviews. Some critics described the album and tour as “bleak” and “mediocre,” while others praised the theatrical and technological aspects of the shows.
