It also has a re-recording of Syd Barrett’s debut solo album The Madcap Laughs by such people like REM, Captain Sensible, Robyn Hitchcock and more! The inside story of The Madcap Laughs is told on 15 wonderful pages by David Gilmour, Robert Wyatt, Storm Thorgerson, photographer Mick Rock and others. Certainly worth getting a copy if you are a Barrett fan or fan of the psychedelic scene. Syd Barrett Outtakes and Possible Gilmour Project on them! Links – Escape Artists | Brain Damage article on previous event | The life, art and music of Syd Barrett will again be celebrated, this time at “The City Wakes 2010” festival in London later this year in support of the charity Escape Artists, who use arts to promote mental wellbeing and social inclusion. Planning for the event is well underway, and you can register to be kept informed by visiting www.TheCityWakes.org.uk. David Gilmour’s 2006 concert at the Mermaid Theatre in London is to be re-broacast by the BBC.

David’s show from London’s Mermaid Theatre was first broadcast in March 2006 and would be one of those repeated. Transmission date is likely to be Saturday 30th January or Saturday 6th February. We don’t have transmission times, but will update this story when the BBC provides more detail.
