Early Morning Henry featuring Pink Floyd 1967

Early Morning Henry featuring Pink Floyd Found – Listen Now!

Pink Floyd collectors will be very excited to learn that a recording, thought lost forever, probably featuring Pink Floyd as a backing band, has been found after many years. It will be available for auction on 16th October in Wessex, England at 12pm BST. The recording is Early Morning Henry, the auction house is Wessex Auction House, the songwriter/artist is William “Billy” Butler and the backing band was none other than Pink Floyd. It was recorded on 23rd October 1967 at Abbey Road Studios. The recording sheet is below showing Pink Floyd were recording Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun at the time. The recording was produced by Norman “Hurricane” Smith who was a former RAF Pilot, worked with the Beatles and Pink Floyd. After the recording session, it is noted in the recording sheet above that the recording went off with Norman never to be seen...

Roger Waters Us + Them Sky Arts

Roger Waters Us+Them on Sky Arts Freeview

A week before its official release on glorious bluray, Roger Waters epic Us+Them concert film is to be broadcast on Sky Arts in the UK. It is not the full version of course, it is an edited down director’s cut (I’m not funny enough to think of a joke linking that to the final cut album you try) but it is broadcast at 9PM GMT in the UK for free. As a UK person I actually had no idea that Sky Arts had come to Freeview – it is usually a subscription channel as far as I know. They often feature lots of Pink Floyd content and have broadcast plenty over the years. In addition to the main prize at 9PM, they are also broadcasting lots of other goodies from 6:30pm so have you dinner, get a brew and tuck in! How do I get Sky Arts for Free? Sky...

The Lyrics of Syd Barrett Book 2021 Rob Chapman featured

The Lyrics of Syd Barrett Book Feb 21 by Rob Chapman

Omnibus Press will release The Lyrics of Syd Barrett book next year on 18th February and will be available in all good bookstores including Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com. It is an official book. The book has had the involvement of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour who has been carefully checking the lyrics that are included in the book. He mentioned it on his “Von Trapped” family broadcast he has been doing on Covid Lockdown. The book is beautifully illustrated. Syd of course was the driving force of Pink Floyd when the band was established. It was his songs that firmly established the band on the underground scene and set the tone for decades to come. Syd was also overly fond of LSD amongst other drugs and this, along with schizophrenia, meant that he drifted away from Pink Floyd – a collection of young lads that wanted to be pop stars –...

Pink Floyd Delicate Sound of Thunder Bluray DVD header

Delicate Sound of Thunder Pre-Order DVD/BluRay – Restored. Re-Edited. Remixed.

Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound of Thunder will be available on 20th November 2020 in multiple formats including Blu-ray and DVD, with audio-only versions on 2-CD or 3-LP, plus a Deluxe 4-disc version including 2-CDs plus Blu-ray and DVD, each of which contain five bonus tracks. Pre-Order now from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com There was a cinema screening planned but, unfortunately, was cancelled due to the Coronavirus restrictions in place making it not feasible. A shame as the transfer of the 35mm film to 4k digital would have looked amazing up on the silver screen. The newly edited and mixed video/audio of the concert performance looks and sounds amazing. It was released in the big box set of Pink Floyd’s Later Years collection which chronicled in great detail the output from Pink Floyd post-Roger Waters. An amazing collection for the era. Many fans of course only wanted this particular release given what...

Nick Mason Saucerful of Secrets - Live at the Roundhouse

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets Released

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason set up his Saucerful of Secrets band back in 2018 with guitarist Lee Harris. He soon assembled a full band including Pink Floyd session bassist Guy Pratt, Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet as the singer/guitarist and keyboardist Dom Beken. They played a gig at London’s Roundhouse theatre down in Camden and had camera’s galore to film it. It is now finally released on multiple formats for fans to revisit earlier Pink Floyd material which doesn’t often get a look in from Gilmour and Waters. Some great songs there in the set list. You can get it as video in Bluray or just the audio from CD, VInyl or online platforms like Spotify and Amazon Music. Feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think of it.
