After watching an 18-minute video, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of David Gilmour Luck and Strange. I won’t say anything that might spoil listening to the album fresh for the first time, but getting to hear some of the other songs on the new album, that have not been shared before now, has really had a positive impact on me. With only a few days left before we get to hear the album described by David as the best thing he has done since Dark Side of the Moon, I am really looking forward to hearing it.

Listening to the Electronic Press Kit EPK Video that was posted yesterday on David’s official YouTube page and socials, we got to hear a gem of a song called Sings. It has the musical beauty and pop simplicity of Comfortably Numb, you might say the perfect melody. Even though it was produced by a much younger fella unrelated to Pink Floyd, the song captures the “restraint” that Nick Mason and Richard Wright brough to Pink Floyd, using layers of sound that unfold rather than being overly “loud”; and it has that sparse drumming, courtesy of Steve Gadd, keeping the space open within the song for the other instruments to swell into. It has lovely lyrics from Polly Samson bringing reflection of an older man on his life. Excuse me a moment, I have something in my eye… really looking forward to hearing the whole of David Gilmour Luck and Strange…

We have been teased by very short video clips over the past several weeks so its great to finally get a nice long 18 minute “the making of” format of video about Luck and Strange. I really liked it.
