Barrett DVD Cover Artwork For Sale

The beautiful artwork from the “Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story” DVD (region 1 USA & Canada) is to go on auction starting 1st October 2006.

Long time Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett fan Mark Wilkinson who owns The Masque Studios was commissioned to do the cover. He was very excited to be offered the chance to work on such an excellent project. He told NPF, “[To] get the commission for the Syd painting was a huge moment for me and I immersed myself into the project completely”. His final piece of artwork above is a fitting tribute to the great man Mr Barrett.

Inspired Moments

On his inspiration for the artwork, Mark said, “I didn’t want to do a pastiche…but to imagine if I had been painting
back then…what would I have done? Syd’s story is usually told in a pretty mournful way nowadays especially by the press since his death, but I wanted to go back a year or so from the Madcap period and do a painting that was more celebratory of his time with the early Pink Floyd”.
