David Gilmour Between Two Points Second Single Out Today
Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist, David Gilmour, is back with a stunning new single, ‘Between Two Points’, a collaboration with his talented daughter, Romany Gilmour. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in Gilmour’s illustrious career, as he prepares to release his first album of new material in nine years, ‘Luck and Strange’. He will also be on tour with the new album and a much cut down set of Pink Floyd songs.
Also announced today is the Deluxe version of the album available as CD and Vinyl. Ordering details below.

A New Single: Between Two Points
The new single, ‘Between Two Points’, is a beautiful reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 dream pop song. It features the ethereal vocals and harp of 22-year-old Romany Gilmour, adding a fresh and youthful touch to the track. The single is available to stream now, and the music video, which promises to be a visual treat, will be premiered later today.
Talking about the song Between Two Points, David Gilmour said, “I’ve had that song on my playlist since it was released. More recently I mentioned it to one or two people: I assumed that it had been a hit, but no one knew it. I asked Romany to give it a go”.
The original author of the song, Mark Tranmer of The Montgolfier Brothers, is greatly enamoured with this new version. “David and Romany’s version of our song is a great arrangement and production. Like all the best covers, it diverges from the original but keeps the spirit. Romany’s vocal phrasing of Roger Quigley’s words and the harp playing are both truly beautiful. David Gilmour’s distinctive guitar adds a whole new dimension. I still find it incredible that David and Polly chose to cover our song from all the songs out there.”
The video for ‘Between Two Points’ was shot on location in London and Manchester, with David on guitars and featuring Romany Gilmour on vocals and harp. Gavin Elder who directed the clip said: “Romany performs this song with an extraordinary level of fragility, vulnerability and understated control. There’s a subtle, yet deep emotional rapport between David and Romany, captured with hand held cameras, enhancing the tension within the video.”
Introducing Romany Gilmour

Romany Gilmour, David’s daughter, is a rising star in the music industry. With her enchanting vocals and harp skills, she brings a unique and captivating sound to the new single. Her collaboration with her father on this project showcases not only her talent but also the strong musical bond within the Gilmour family. During lock down, the Von Trapped sessions gave us much needed entertainment.
During the live streams that Gilmour and family, as the Von Trappeds, performed to a global audience during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, Romany had sung and played the harp, and David found that their voices mixed in a way that only a family member could. Around that time, David and Romany collaborated on the song ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’, which appears on the CD & Blu-Ray versions of ‘Luck and Strange’.
David said, “I realised that Romany has exactly the right sort of vulnerability and youth for the song. In fact, she was halfway through an essay with a train to catch when we asked her: “OK, I’ll sing it once, put the mic on” and that, says David, is 90 percent of the finished vocal.
Watch Between Two Points Music Video
I like the “black cat” sticker on Gilmour’s “black strat” guitar. There is also a song on the album called Black Cat so, hopefully, there will be some emotive and soaring guitars to look forward to on that.
I think Romany has done a great job with the vocal. Sounds amazing.
Filming Between Two Points – Behind the Scenes
The location is down the stairs from The Elder Press Café next to the Thames. The video is directed by long-time Gilmour collaborator Gavin Elder. The video also takes us to the The Kings Arms pub in Salford where I will be having a pint on Wednesday. Roger Quigley, one half of the Montgolfier Brothers who wrote the song, had his studio in the King’s Arms.
