David Gilmour Luck and Strange Formats

David Gilmour Luck and Strange Formats include a sliding scale in terms of content but also variations in LP colours essentially for collectors, and also an alternative cover for the standard issue CD and Vinyl.

First lets start at the top of the pile in terms of the variability in content. There is a Deluxe boxset with a photo print and comes either as LP or CD. This seems to have been the original box set that was made available shortly after announcing the original formats. The other day, a variation of the deluxe set appeared this time without the photo print which is now back in stock which possibly suggests the printed photo was a limited run and became a bottleneck in production hence the top tier boxset release data is nearly the end of September. In terms of getting the one with the printed photo, there is a price difference and the original one with photo print now seems… well… out of print and no longer available.

If you ordered through the links I shared, then you will likely have the with photo print edition. Otherwise the without photo print ones are available for immediate dispatch on release data 6th September.

David Gilmour Luck and Strange Deluxe LP with Photo Print, hardback picture book, Blu-ray, LP and an additional LP with Yes I have Ghosts and presumably the radio single mixes, all presented in a nice box with booklet.

Additional Formats

The CD comes with the normal classic cover then a second alternative cover with a “negative” image as in photo negatives rather than taking a pessimistic view! The Blu-Ray audio disk comes with a booklet like the CD and regular vinyl, with some slight differences in cropping of the images due to the format size difference.

Then there are the LPs. The standard LP features a gatefold sleeve and booklet with photography and design by Anton Corbijn. There are then what I would term collectors LPs because they have been printed in different colours with limited production runs to make them, well, collectable. The regular LP is currently £34.99 on Amazon UK with the white one at the same price. Weirdly, the Bottle Glass version available on David official web store is only £30 and is a fancy green colour. The silver Vinyl is £36.99 on Rough Trade.
