On this day 14 June 2013 Pink Floyd made the move to Spotify with 'Wish You Were Here'. The plan was that as soon as one million streams had been achieved, the whole Pink Floyd catalogue would be made available.

Do you know what the reasoning was behind the one million streams?

'Rather than just dumping the band’s catalog on the service and making a ruckus about it, the streaming music company is raising awareness of Pink Floyd’s arrival with a cute and clever viral campaign: The discography won’t be unlocked until the remastered version of the “Wish You Were Here” single (get it?) is streamed one million times.

Thanks. The article doesn't mention why they decided on that campaign. I suppose that campaign would encourage PF fans to play the song a lot, and that might get it to the top of the Spotify charts. Which might raise awareness among people who don't listen to PF and maybe get some new fans.

On this day 17th June 1981 PF played the last of a run of the Wall shows at Earls Court. It would be the last time Rog played live as a member of the band. I was at that show and the one on the previous evening and to save us driving up and back on consecutive evenings 3 of us slept in the car overnight close to Battersea power station

And later that month, Pink Floyd were paid £2.87 in royalties for those one million streams :(
