BBC Seven Ages of Rock-Part 2 (26 May 2007)

Post by Syd'sSexy »

As you know, tomorrow night's episode features Pink Floyd.

From the Brain Damage web site: "With rare, vintage clips (one or two of which haven't even made it into the "unofficial collector's" realm) and new interviews with all the band members, it really is one to watch!"

Entire story: http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/latest/se ... ekend.html

Featured in the article are also 2 video clips of the program(me).

I really wish I could watch this! ARGH!

Yet again, I'm reminded of why it sometimes sucks to live in the States.
Guess we'll have to settle for YouTube clips?

Bless.

I should really set up my Video Box to record it... I've got no means of putting it up on 'puter, but I'm just rubbing in the fact that I can watch it, like the naughty incontinent puppy I am.

There might be a special on after it, like there were for the Hendrix episode, so I'd look out for that as well...

Pink Floyd are on this episode?

The advert that the BBC are continually broadcasting claims that it is about David Bowie, Roxy Music and The Velvet Underground.

Really? I didn't notice any mention of them. But maybe that is because I find all of the other mentioned bands more interesting than Pink Floyd.

Yeah, Ziggy Stardust, Brian Ferry, Lou Reed. They all oozed persona. Pink Floyd had a screen which they projected films on, shuffled out in black T-shirts, and generally didn't wash their hair.

I just finished watching the programme. It was a good watch but didn't really contain anything new as such. The jugband blues video clip looked good! Look like it had been touched up with some of the old image processing technique. Proper horrorshow. 8)

I enjoyed it too, especially the Genesis and Roxy clips having seen a lot of the Floyd ones as you say. Hoorah for English suburban eccentricity . :D

I didn't realise that the Bowie double bill was on the other channel immediately after so I had to rush round and find another blank dvd for that.

Yes, the rest of the programme was a very good watch indeed! I recorded it to DVD for future reference! 8)

Where did the clip of the Floyd getting off the aeroplane come from, either with the girls around or with the footage of girls around them (very Beatlemaniaesque)...

And the stuff from The WallLive looked really good.

just seen the episode and it was great, tended to forget about my times when i went to see the wall performed in 80/81 .so when the clip was shown of the live concert footage i now realise that it was brilliant after all and my comments about those concerts were not true, now can somebody out there tell me can you get this complete footage of the concert on d v d or torrent it,the film with bob geldorf was rubbish this was the true concert, the series so far is great and boy does it take us oldies back

It was ok, but I enjoyed last weeks Hendrix one much more.
I really wasn't keen on the production techniques used in the show (the tinting, the zooming in and showing a detail of the clip rather than showing it as it was originally shot, the adding of fake scratches to a Bowie clip to make it look old & damaged). I could rant at length but I'll leave it at that, as many tv shows are guilty of those production techniques, not just this one.

Is a DVD release with the complete unmolested clips as extras too much to hope for?
