"Pigs Might Fly" - New Pink Floyd Book
PIGS MIGHT FLY
The Inside Story of Pink Floyd
By Mark Blake
In July 2005, after a twenty-four year absence, the full line up of Pink Floyd re-united to play Live 8 – and stole the show from superstars like Paul McCartney. In 2006, reclusive founder member Syd Barrett died.
These two events provide the closure necessary to tell the last full story of one of the world’s most successful bands.
From the best-selling Dark Side of the Moon to the gargantuan project of The Wall, Pink Floyd sold millions of albums and put on some of the most spectacular live shows ever staged.
Having previously interviewed the band for various magazines, Mark Blake has now talked to the band’s friends, road crew, former housemates, university colleagues – some of who have never spoken before – musical contemporaries like Pete Townshend and Alice Cooper, to produce the definitive history of this most English of bands, from school days in Cambridge, through the mid-sixties psychedelia of the UFO club, to the bitter schism between Roger Waters and his fellow members that led to a seemingly irrevocable spilt.
Mark Blake is an editor at Mojo and Q and edited their special issues on Pink Floyd and progressive rock.
• The first new full-length biography of the band for 15 years
• Almost 100 new interviews, some with band associates who have never spoken before
• Covers the whole history including the Live 8 reunion and the death of Syd Barrett
• 2007 the 40th anniversary of Floyd’s first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
• Dark Side of the Moon still one of the biggest-selling albums of all time
Pigs Might Fly is published in hardback by Aurum Press on October 4th, 2007. Priced £18.99.

Mark, thanks for dropping by. Tell us, can you give us a hint on any new angle you've taken on the existing canon of Floyd scholarship? Any revelations or scoops? Roger was really a pussycat? Nick was the true genius behind the group?Blake wrote:Just a little extra information about my book…

Re: "Pigs Might Fly" - New Pink Floyd Book
Me 3 I need to start saving cash - I already have an order placed (no, not in the Web, but to my personal local "provider" of postal stamps on musicians, - this time I ordered the new Rolling Stones, The Beatles "All you need is Love", and Elvis' stamps, and already bought a new Elvis' death anniversary stamp printed on/for St Kitts island, costed me 78,- EEK=almost 7 dollars), thus need to get money in a months time anyway. Maybe after that I'll order this booknosaj wrote:I wanna get it too!
