Oh dear to package malfunction! The Piper at the Gates of Dawn with mono piper and book had a malfunction too in that the internal booklet which was stapled onto the inside card of the CD box was liberated with even a hint of movement.

A first review of the new CD's: http://www.tonepublications.com/music/p ... ds-latest/

One quote:
"Yes, completists will want everything. But if you already own Oh, By the Way, you will gain no new ground with Discovery. However, if you still just clutch the original CDs or worn vinyl copies, these new remasters provide a highly satisfying upgrade."

Two quotes about the DSotM Box:
"Note: Obsessive types will probably detest one aspect of the Immersion packaging. While placed on lock-down mechanisms, discs can come loose in transit and slide around the inside of the box."

"The reservation as to whether this particular Immersion probes deeply enough isn’t related to the recycling of the surround mix or Quad program but, rather, concerns what’s absent. Namely, rarities in the form of demos, outtakes, and live cuts. The few intriguing tidbits that appear leave one wanting more."

Anyone come across this artwork for A Foot in the Door?

Image

It's the only site I've seen it on so far. Perhaps its some artwork in the booklet, or maybe the album comes in a cardboard sleeve? Interesting, though.

according to a recent Nick Mason interview the "why pink floyd" releases are a result of public demand.

just how much public demand is there for the "dark side" coasters, scarf, reproduction items and marbles.

how much could the price have been reduced if it were not for these items.

I thought it was a boot for a second there, but Wiki says it's part of the Why Pink Floyd?
But now I have another two questions - why just ONE disc (subquestion - why are Meddle and Animals omitted, among some other, less classic albums?), and will tracks be segued into each other like on Echoes (which would be cool, imho)?

Of course it will be a part of "Why Pink Floyd?", but I was just curious as to why the artwork was different, compared to what 99% of others are showing as the artwork for A Foot in the Door, which is:

The point of the album, however, was to put the "greatest hits" all onto one disc, instead of 2. It's meant to be for the newer fan who may have only heard of Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 a few times. I understand what you mean, though, the cover DOES indeed show Meddle, Animals, and a few other albums, but...the reason for that: It will probably get the new listener to go out and buy those excluded albums, once they've warmed up to the "hits".

I also don't see why the tracks wouldn't segue into each other. Who knows, I guess.

What exactly are you referring to? I'm pretty sure that nothing of the "Why Pink Floyd?" Campaign is releasing until next week.
