If you were to buy only 1 of the Immersion sets...

Post by progo »

...which one would you choose?

I was long considering WYWH because that's the one I have least physical material already. But you know. The Wall simply is more divine. So hard to choose. DSOTM is out because.

I probably (pre)order none of those :/

I am going to have to have the three of them at some stage but am focused on having Dark Side of the Moon on or just before 26th September. 8)

The Wall is an obvious "no choice." It's basically 4 disc of music we already have (2 Studio + 2 Live). So it would be either DSoTM or WYWH for me.

It would be the one I have already pre-ordered, namely Dark Side Of The Moon. If they bring them out for the Meddle/Ummagumma periods then I'll get those but if not then I doubt I'll bother with any more.

I've already preordered DSOTM amd WYWH, The Wall i'm not sure about yet, but if only one... it would have to be Wish because of the unreleased Household Objects demo The Hard Way and Stephane Grappelli on Wish.

I'll hold my ground and see what Immersion sets come out after these three.
I am curious about hearing stuff from the "Household Objects", but obviously not curious enough to spend money on it!
(I might enter a competition for it)

I think WYWH is too cold an album, and The Wall has to be approached on its own level. Its almost a case of Emperor's new clothes as you either have to say The Wall is an amazing vision and statement of intent or you dismiss it (as I am want to do). Perhaps DSOTM is the best set as it is a good album anyway, the live stuff is a cool addition and if I don't want to savage people with weird bootleg Floyd facts I can just stick it on and appreciate it for what it is.

I'd probably get the Wall Immersion set, since it's my favorite Pink Floyd album.

The Wall. I know it has 4 discs of stuff that everyone already owns, but being my favourite PF album I would have to have it.

Mother do you think they release the DVD on its own?

I'm gonna be furious if the promised Wall live DVD will be Immersion-exclusive.

I hope it will be an extra with Rogers DVD when it comes out. It would be good to see them both together.

I personally think there will be no '80 or '81 Wall footage in any context other than a few clips in an interview or documentary Making Of feature. I don't think they can get the angles and quality of footage they want. Roger sees The Wall as a current and relevant feature (if you will) so therefore won't let old archive footage do it a disservice because the angles are naff, the projectors are flickery etc etc... the band are still not quite at the museum stage they still think they have a current product.

Do we know if "What Shall We Do Now?" is going to be on the Wall Immersion set? Amazon just lists discs 3 and 4 as "The Wall album demos (previously unreleased)", I'd like to know some more details about those before I decide whether I get it.

As for the other two, I'm leaning towards Dark Side as my Immersion purchase, for the quad and 5.1 mixes, the concert films and also the early mixes and unreleased tracks (household objects and travel sequence). The Experience set for Wish You Were Here seems to offer everything I want (1974 live stuff, alternate mixes), so I probably won't go Immersion for that one.

Oh wow. I didn't even remember the experience sets. Now that might satisfy my WYWH needs too.
