Vernon Fitch's new Final Cut book.

Post by MoreWaters »

I emailed Vernon several months ago and he said he was just finishing up The Final Cut book and that it would be made available this summer. Haven't seen/heard anything else though. Anyone else have any information on this? If it's half as good as his book on The Wall. SOLD.

Good news! Vernon Fitch's book on The Wall is Awsome! (but very expensive). A friend of mine buy a used on ebay for $250.

The Final Cut is not an "easy" records but he deserves to be considered alongside other albums. Not the best but certainly not the worse! It take me years to appreciate TFC in the '80, but I like it, even if Rick was not there. Gilmour plays some of his best solos!

I'm not sure if you can order a copy just yet ... however, on 14 August I exchanged e-mails with VF and have reserved a copy of 'The Final Cut' as I wanted the same limited edition number as my copy of the truely excellent 'The Wall' book

Just received an update (to our subscribers ie those who purchased the Comfortably Numb book) -

PFA Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of our latest book, titled The Final Cut – A History of Pink Floyd 1982-1983.

This book features an insiders look at the making of The Final Cut album, insights into the Pink Floyd recording process, an examination of the Holophonic recording process used on the album, a song by song analysis of The Final Cut album, and a glimpse into the making of The Final Cut film. It also includes a world-wide The Final Cut discography, as well as over 150 illustrations, with many rare and previously unpublished photos of the recording sessions, and pictures of The Final Cut memorabilia from The Pink Floyd Archives collection. With contributions from James Guthrie, Willie Christie, Andy Jackson, and others.

Well I wish Vernon the best of luck with this book. I'm really interested, but when it sells out will we see a re-print or a lot of the book details put online?
Not word for word, but for those of us unlucky to get hold of a copy, it'd be good to see his research reach a wider audience.
There has to be a better resource than Wiki for really in depth text on this album.

ordered mine today you can request the same number book as the comfortably numb book if you want. Indecently the postage cost more than the book

Is it important to get the same number in the book? Is that a bit odd??
