petition

Post by flashback »

I sat here the last couple of days trying to figure out how best say this.Pink Floyd has always been better than the sum of it's parts. They can fight amongst themselves all they want but even when they are all dead and gone two things will remain, the music and the fans that love it.It's always been about the music, and if they didn't have the fans they might have been digging coal somewhere.I have loved the music for 28 years,From just good jam to telling us to look at our personal problems or to take a look at the world around us and what we are doing to it. They need to look at what happened to the Beatles,John died and then it was to late.We as fans need to remind them what Pink Floyd means to us.Tell them to get over all the bull and say thanks to us and let us to say thanks to them.So here it is lets start a petition to tell them that, and if we do start one we need to go world wide with it.Hit every Floyd or music site possible. What do you think.

What do I think?

I don't think it's a good idea.

I don't think there's any way that a reunion could live up to what we think it should be. I think it would be a disappointment in some ways.

Anti-climactic, at least.

I agree, Mos.

I think there will never be a re-union. Why would either side want a re-union? David, Rick, and Nick obviously do not want Roger cutting into their profits when they tour any more than he currently does via royalty fees, and Roger sees Pink Floyd as having been dead for many years.

Roger is happy being honest and working under his own banner, and David, Rick, and Nick are happy with pretending to be Pink Floyd. I highly doubt things will change.

To RPITI: can't you never be just objective without always posting your subjective opinions on the board/in the messages. Really, to be honest and nothing against your person, but it's becoming very tiresome and it doesn't look very grown-up.

I'm sorry, but I thought we were supposed to post our opinions on Floydian matters on PINK FLOYD message boards. Why don't you contribute to the thread instead of berating me for posting my opinion, which just happens to differ from yours? Perhaps you should look in the mirror if you feel I am being immature.

O RPITI, did i hurt your feelings ??? I did not attack your opinion , my dear fellow, it's just becoming a little bit boring, but that's reminding me of someone constantly singing about war and commercialism.

If you are sick of me, don't read my posts anymore. I'm not going to refrain from posting because you don't like what I post.

What can i say? Thank god i normally agree with Real Pink On The Inside or i would be subjected to a whole load of arguemts i couldn't win.

I tell you Real Pink, you know your talent, arguing my man, i can't think of an argument you haven't won. Are you a lawyer or something.

I don't think there should be a reunion because they would just look like old gits. Dave's almost 60 - he's 59 right?- and if they stand around singing material they did like 25 years ago it would just be a bit underwhelming.

In saying that though i would never pass the chance to see The Stones play now, even if it would be underwhelming it would still be worth seeing IF IT HAPPENED, but for the floyd's sake i wouldn't advise it.

Ok, if that's because of my thing about real pink, i beleive credit should be given where credit's due, and the fact that in what is around 83 arguments you've had with him i can't think of a single one you've won. If that doesn't mean the boy has talents then it just makes you utterly pathetic for never beating him.

If you said pathetic because of my thing on Pink Floyd, would you not go to see them if they had a reunion?

That 1983-1985-thing, Smithy, well there is only ONE objective thruth in the whole case: WATERS LEFT PINK FLOYD in 1985, so Pink Floyd carried on. All the rest is just opinions. I'm just tired of always reading all sorts of messages on different topics from RPITI but always with that undertone that the current Floyd is a Fraud, mostly everything Dave says is probably a lie, and Waters is a true genius, almost a prophet, mostly telling the thruth. We know RPITI subjective point of view, as you know my subjective point of view. There is, as i started this post with, only ONE objective thruth. The behaviour of RPITI is on this subject of constantly "defending Waters" rather immature, probably even neurotic, well in any case not healthy.

With all due respect, Spinoza...this is exactly the sort of thing you are complaining about from R.PITI.

It is your subjective opinion that his posting of his subjective opinions is becoming tiresome and doesn't look very grown up.

This board is about subjective opinions just as much as it is about objective fact...probably more so since none of us have been in the band and cannot really state objective fact when it comes to the band.

I'm not in any way saying that you meant to do it, but it was your post above that began what became an argument on the board.

At least R.PITI doesn't state his opinion and try to call it a fact (not saying that you do, either) as I have seen people do on the "old board."

I think i stated clearly that i'm not against opinions, just against the way people try to push them in everybody's throath. I did not start this Gilmour and co bashing thing here in this thread or on several other messageboards.

BTW: i even posted RPITI's findings on other boards on his demand.

Getting back to the subject a bit:

I think the only kind of reunion that MIGHT be possible (still VERY unlikely), would be a sort of one-off MTV Unplugged thingy, and that WOULD be very cool... 8)
