The NPF RSS News Feed - Subscribe to it for news on NPF

Post by Keith Jordan »

If you browse over to the NPF News section for 2010 you will notice some news stories. I post all sorts of crap to the forum and even blog some stuff on the NPF Blog, but the News section of NPF is the filtered stuff so only the (generally) good editorial stuff appears there. Its the good site content that I put out!

Anyway, one of the methods of accessing that information on your computer and on the internet is via the "RSS News Feed".

If you want to subscribe to that, click here.

If you are wondering WTF is that then? Read on...

What is this RSS News Feed then? Image

Telling you what you can do with an RSS feed is a good start. You can use an RSS reader to get various content from all over the internet and download it to your computer without you actually visiting all the sites you wish to "follow" the news and content of. You open your RSS reader and it downloads the RSS content from the websites you are "subscribed" to. RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication".

So, I need a Reader?

Yes. I use Microsoft Outlook's RSS Reader to download all the Pink Floyd news and other stuff from all over the internet so I don't miss a beat about things I am interested in from sites I wouldn't visit every day. Other readers are available to you. Some are listed below.

Google RSS Reader - If you are registered as a Google user with Gmail for example, then, when you click the RSS Feed button of a website, you can have Google pull down all the content from the RSS Feeds you are subscribed to to one place. Best thing to do is just click the NPF RSS News Feed link below and take it from there. http://www.google.com/reader/view/

Just added it to my Google account. I'd no idea what RSS feeds were before and never bothered to find out I suppose.

I've got two RSS feeds on my Firefox toolbar, just under the address bar; the BBC & RTÉ news headlines. I can't remember how I did it though :(
