Ozric Tentacles

Post by TioBuzzy »

Maybe some of you guys in the UK are familiar with them. I saw them play here in the states once at a local rock club.

Their website doesn't list any tour dates past 2017. Would it be a fair assumption to think maybe they are done with live shows for good?

They were very underappreciated. Roger Water's son (Hal) was playing keyboards with them the tour I saw.

Apparently he goes by both "Hal" and "Harry" -

This pins down what year I saw them... looks like 2004

I love Ozrics! I saw them live in '99 and again in '00. Great shows. I believe currently they are just on a hiatus. Ed and Silas both did solo albums ('Shimmer Into Nature' (2019) and 'The Scales of Tahuti' (2017), respectively) and Ed also did another Nodens Ictus studio album (The Cozmic Key(2017)) as well as NI live album from a show in 2018. Not sure what Brandi's up to. But they are pretty much a family band now, Ed and his wife and son plus drummer Balázs Szende. So it is probably just a matter of time once they get all their solo projects out of their system that they get back together and start doing live shows again, but that's only my speculation, I haven't heard anything specific. If I do hear anything, I'll post it. You may also want to check out former Ozric's frontman Jon Egan's band Dream Machine (not to be confused with the US band of the same name). Their most recent album was called 'Temple of Dreams' (2018).

They just released a new single 'Humboldt Currant' (no, there's not a typo there), and they are soon to release a new album, 'Space For Earth', their first since 2015's 'Technicians of the Sacred'.

New single here on Youtube...

I'm not too familiar with the band, but I'm listening to 'Humbolt Currant' right now and enjoying t greatly.

For Tiobuzzy, they have concerts scheduled in September and October.

I can't believe I only got into them about 3 or 4 years ago. Wish I had heard of them 25 years ago...I like them.

They are one of my favorite "bands", although a lot of the more recent releases are really Ed Wynne and whoever he's working with at the moment. Ed also has one solo album, and does similar music under another name- Nodens Ictus.
I've been fortunate to see OT 3 times, and they never disappointed, even though a couple of the gigs were plagued with equipment issues.

There was an Ozric "live from the studio" stream on Facebook last weekend.
3 sets:

1- Ed's son Silas with a singer named Saski
2- Ed and Silas doing versions of some Ozric tracks
3- Silas doing a solo set of some of his own music.

The video is still up if anyone is interested (music starts at around the 17 min point):
