I was thinking about how one of the descriptors of Syd's songwriting is "British Whimsey" and how that has been applied to others as well: early, early Bowie (late 60s) and Ray Davies come to mind.
But is there such a thing as "American Whimsey" and if so, what is it? Or is it sort of an oxymoron like Military Intelligence?
For the life of me, I can't figure out if there is such an animal.
Thoughts?
