Shine on - Steve Lukather

Lukather's take on a classic Floyd track. I'd say not a bad effort. Floyd tracks are incredibly difficult to cover generally.

To me one of the major problems is the sound is way too polished while they're playing almost note-for-note.

I've heard this one ages ago on an all-star Pink Floyd tribute compilation entitled 'Pigs & Pyramids'. Like the rest of the songs on it, they kept sticking to the original material too closely and gave no new interpretation to the songs. Lukather is a good guitarist but he can't beat Gilmour in his own game, in fact no one can. The only song that stood out a bit from that compilation was 'Run Like Hell' by Tony Franklin and Dweezil Zappa, but it still wasn't anywhere near the original.
