Terrible news that David Bowie has passed away this morning after 18 months with cancer. :(

Only a couple of days after his latest release, and one of his best albums in decades at that. So sad...

Indeed. I think many had hopes for new plans and stuff. Bummer. Gutter. Feels like a bit of a personal loss.

My heart goes out to the family and friends, to whom David was more than a musician. And to David himself - to be dead and to know it... (I believe in the afterlife).

RIP indeed. It's sad of course that the great man has gone but I quite like the way he went. Without the tabloids knowing he was so ill. Recording an album that fans and critics liked. Making a video that suddenly makes an awful lot of sense now that he's gone. It's all very Bowie-esque really.

How original. Expect Roger to take a page from this playbook.

Absolutely. If nothing else, the world is one charming man less.

Gutted. He peaked and he troughed but he was always worth a listen. Will be cracking open the back catalogue later

Genius. His new album is fantastic and to go out like that is fitting for him.

I've been genuinely moved by his passing, idolised him since I was a kid. His influence obviously goes much further than music, a fashion and cultural icon also.

At least some of the tracks indicate what was about to happen. "Look up here, I'm in Heaven" (Lazarus).

Most of the tracks do. The only ones without any reference to death, dying or illness are 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore and probably Girl Loves Me, I'm not even so sure about the latter.

R.I.P. David Bowie.

I remember Ashes To Ashes when it was released but bought Adam And The Ants instead!
I remember being in woolen socks in the Summer I spent at my Scottish relatives house as "Let's Dance" was always playing.
I remember making friends in school with a Bowie fan who kept trying to put me off from getting into Bowie!

And I've nothing but Blackstar playing since I got it last Saturday.

A chart that hopefully brings comfort to other fans. And even I think his quick cremation was weird.

Wow, a total of 19 (including No.1) of the top 100 are Bowie albums
