At least some of the tracks indicate what was about to happen.

Most of the tracks do. The only ones without any reference to death, dying or illness are 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore and probably Girl Loves Me, I'm not even so sure about the latter.

I actually thought 'Tis a pity she was a whore' was a reference to his illness too. I thought Cancer was the whore, destroying the lives of all who she touches.
