gilmour's guitar playing help please

in "is there anybody out there" in parts of the song there are some peice of work by gilmour when he does some kind of bend on a high note and the sound is very similar to a scream of a man?? (he does that in other parts also on "The Wall") anyway, does anybody know how to do that? is it a effect with a multi?
