If you heard that Rick was...

Talk about other Floyd related musicians here.

If it were announced that Rick was taking intensive singing training, would you be?

Somehow i doubt that vocal training would start to make a difference once you´re 60.

Out of interest, I asked on a music forum whether singing training after 60 was likely to have an effect. The answer was a resounding "yes".

Not that I think it would happen. I don't think Rick really enjoys singing that much, given some things he's said in interviews. So I don't think he'd have sufficient motivation to really do something.

He sounds like he smokes way too much, so I don't know how much help coaching would be.

I'd say "YAY. I hope he sings Erlkonig by Franz Schubert."

I bet he couldn't play that on piano.

He certainly used to. Very distinctive, too. Try hitting those notes in Arnold Layne!

He did'nt need singing lessons, he had one of the most distictive voices in rock, it's funny with shows like x-factor and the such where it's all about the singing voice, that many of the biggest rock stars would not have made it through the audition stage, i'm thinking guys like Dylan, Knopfler, Waters etc but for what they do, there voices are perfect.

very true, vocals dont actually matter in most rock groups..

pink floyd dont even need vocals they would have a few albums of instrumentals

Moderately. Rick's earlier stuff is unable to be beaten, but lately he did suffer some problems...

Well, a lot of peoples' voices deteriorate when they get older. DG's voice isn't what it was either - you can hear it cracking on the higher notes. Rick's smoking didn't help him. It's sad he's not around anymore though, regardless of what shape his voice was in :(
