Richard Wright's Last Wishes

Post by Hogtown »

I just read that one of his last wishes was to do a big outdoor gig at a festival. Dave looked into doing Glastunbury last summer, about three weeks before and they could not accomodate them (I am not sure if "them" was Pink Floyd)...that is sad.

Do you think Richard also had any last wishes regarding his last album released (perhaps not, because we don't know how far he even got)?

I don't know but it would be nice if the album he had been working on was finished or nearly finished. Perhaps in time David and Guy will finish it.

I had heard it was an instrumental album....but I'm not positive on that fact. I'm not fond of Pratt but I sure hope it's finished and released - I'd love to hear it :)

Yes, instrumental it was to be. I don't know how far he got though...maybe only demos...

Yes, a smouldering cat is not a good legacy to leave for the neighbours.

If there is anything musical that he left unfinished I think I'd prefer it were left that way to be honest.

I prefer to have both, the original untouched version and the enhaced version, just like what The Beatles did with Lennon's "Free as a Bird".

If his material is close to being finished, it would be nice for it to be released. If it's fragmented and needs a lot of work, then leave it be.

Unfortunately I don't think Rick is a big enough name for the record company to want to release his stuff after death so doubt we will ever hear it

Put a sticker on the album saying "Voice and keyboards of Pink Floyd", write the same thing in the advertisement, insert some Pink Floyd audio or video footage putting accent on Rick, and there you have it 8) Just what they did with On An Island, for one.

Do a compilation of highlights from Rick's solo albums, and add in the new stuff, and I can see people picking it up

Of course, they could add a couple songs off of Gdansk to have some well-known song titles
