Celebrating Polly, chapter and verse
Polly Samson, novelist wife of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, celebrated her 50th birthday at the weekend with a lively bash at the 20th Century Theatre in Westbourne Grove.
Among the 150 guests attending were Ringo Starr, Jeff Beck and Nick Mason, Sir Tom Stoppard, Jane Asher, David Morrissey and Esther Freud, Mariella Frostrup, and the BBC’s Alan Yentob, the Zelig of our times.
Gilmour sung a selection of songs from his 1993 album The Division Bell, for which Polly had written the lyrics. Let’s hope she got a performance royalty.

Really? Wow. Perhaps there is some truth to Polly and David working on a new album then!
What is the source of that information?

Re: David Gilmour Performs at Polly Samson's 50th...
So I think it's safe to say that the two have a new project going. When that will be released is still pending.
But still, this is awesome news! All that fretting over the tour fiasco a few months ago is finally starting to mean something. We were right to think that Polly was working on something with her husband when she mentioned she was writing new lyrics a while ago. I hope we get to hear that new song (and then some) very soon.
Oh, and Happy belated Birthday to Polly!
(I find it coincidental that I was listening to "This Heaven" just as I came across this topic. )

Seeing as Mariella Frostrup tweeted "ridiculously romantic to be serenaded by your Husb, and a treat for the rest of us!", can we conclude from this that it's not The Nile Song Pt II?

Was it just Dave doing stripped down versions, or were they all played with his band?

No, he played with Phil Manzanera and Guy Pratt, but I can't tell who the Drummer is.
