David Gilmour on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show - Friday

Written by Matt
Monday, 13 July 2015

BBC Radio 2Some advance notice for you - BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans Breakfast Show on this coming Friday (July 17th), which airs between 6:30am-9:30am UK time, "gets that Friday feeling going" with a range of guests joining Sara Cox (who is looking after Chris's show this week) in the radio studio for a chat, including our very own David Gilmour.

There is no indication as yet, what time during the show that David will be appearing. Most guests appear after 7:30am or so, although if David is an early bird he could appear earlier in the show!

BBC Radio 2 can be heard on DAB and FM radio, via Freeview, Sky satellite and Virgin Media cable, and via www.BBC.co.uk/radio2, which will allow listeners around the world to tune in. The BBC's iPlayer service (on their website, and on Virgin Media) will allow listening on demand for seven days from the date of broadcast, principally for those in the UK, but this does also work in many other countries.

Update: Polly Samson has confirmed, via her Twitter account, that the title track from the album, Rattle That Lock, will receive its first play at 8:50am on this Radio 2 show. So, well worth tuning in if you are able to...

Firstly at 8:10 a.m.,now we are told it's going to be played at 8:50 a.m.

The oldest suck-in radio trick in the book.

Must be hard-up for listeners on BBC 2.

AF done right is how I hear it. I know that others like it, but for me AF is Dave's nadir. This is so much better.

I haven't heard the radio yet, but set my tivo to record it. Looking forward to hearing it later.

I agree, but it's still much better than a lot of music from the era and most music today.

OT: RTL makes me want to dance. And I usually hate dancing.

Video or it didn't happen :)

Seriously though, RtL makes me feel good that at the ages our heroes are, they're still producing good music.

Just listened to it. There isn't much to this beyond what was in initial clips; very average Gilmour, and even the guitar work (nothing here rises to the term "solo") isn't memorable. Not that it's excruciating or a "what has he done" moment; each of his albums has a track or two that hits me as this one did, but it would be nice to hear something GREAT before putting in the pre-order (the first time I heard OAI (the song), I was transported).

I initially thought he was saying, "so long Syd, au revoir chaos," and of course my mind thought KAOS, not chaos, and I thought, whoa, sharpening up the knives, where is he going with this? Then I saw it was just sin and chaos, so, ok.
