When you look at that documentary, you wouldn't think he worth over 100,000,000 Euros

Re: David Documentary Programme
I thought it was excellent, amazing access to archive footage/personal life/rehearsals for the tour, we’ve heard enough about the Roger dispute and i don’t think it would have been appropriate for ex wives/divorces to be discussed. I’m not sure who the children were in the footage, some may have been from his first marriage.
Re timing, i’m happy for the RTL to be the focus of attention......but it will actually be 2 months tomorrow since it was released

... and the demo of CN was surprising, to say the least!

It makes one wonder what other treasures he has locked away in his archive

Re: David Documentary Programme
Is it different to the demo circulating which he played on a radio show years ago?

Re: David Documentary Programme
Watched it last night (thanks again, Brenda!) and although I really enjoyed bits and pieces it didn't particularly move me as a whole. The pacing is just too steady. They spend the same amount of time dwelling on things we've heard hundreds of times in the past and on things we've never heard of. It would have been much better had they expanded the Astoria story and went deeper into his songwriting processes, as it seemed they would do at certain points. The scat demos are definitely the highlight.

I love that bit at the end where David is saying he wrote Comfortably Numb on that guitar.

Re: David Documentary Programme
What really surprised me about that bit is that the guitar looked brand new, though it's only visible for a second or two. That and the fact that he's still using the guitar he wrote C-Numb on for rehearsals.Keith Jordan wrote:I love that bit at the end where David is saying he wrote Comfortably Numb on that guitar.

And lest there be any doubt, he did emphasise that he wrote Comfortably Numb.

Re: David Documentary Programme
Ok so Gilmour clearly wrote the music for the ''There is no pain'' part what about the ''Hello'' (sang by Roger) part tho. Is it him or Waters?

This version says Gilmour also. Note that the two parts are the other way around here.

Re: David Documentary Programme
Might be crazy but it doesn't sound like the same melody on that minor part?

Re: David Documentary Programme
The vocal melody is significantly different but the harmony is pretty much it. The way it descends from A major to E minor has definitely been rethought for the finished version, but the main harmony points are definitely there.
