Be careful for what you wish for Rog
So Now Trumps gone whats Rog going to do during his live shows now as anti trump rhetoric was the core of his show. He won't go after Sleepy Joe as he is a nasty little Leftie like Rog so my guess will be censorship by Big Tech. Late last year Rog posted a social media message condemning Twitter for suspending the account of the US International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE) which is the youth and student group associated with the Socialist Equality Party. I'm also sure that if he had the time he would also protest the banning of Trump from Twitter as it doesn't matter if its Left or Right it's still censorship. So no more Fuck Trump it will be 'Fuck Jack Dorsey' and Dorsey is a pig etc

Maybe he should say something nice instead of the hate!

oh he´s not so happy with Biden either:
'If Trump would have been re-elected it would have been worse for everyone in the world but that doesn't make Biden a good candidate. Biden is a dyed in the wool, war-mongering servant of the oligarchy'

Re: Be careful for what you wish for Rog
There is such a thing as being too topical, and since the THIS IS NOT A DRILL tour was delayed by the pandemic, I really doubt Roger will tour again, ever. Even once things go "back to normal" in terms of live shows, it will be a long time before someone of Roger's age and status feels comfortable being around that many people. I think he will get around to releasing all of his lockdown re-recordings as an album before he kicks the bucket, but that'll be it. Freedom of speech would be a fitting focal point for a concept album, but Roger works at a glacial pace. And I'm not joking when I say that almost all of his solo and live albums have been released on the heels of a divorce, though he recently did get dumped by his fiancée, so who knows? Is This the Life was slapped together in record time, mostly by other people, without a linear narrative, and did much better than any of his previous releases, so maybe he'll be comfortable with using that process again. It still didn't do as well as most Gilmour solo works, or even Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets: Live at the Roundhouse, but who's counting.

He should go back and write about Mary Whitehouse.

Trump has gone, but the problems that allowed such an evil moron to come to power are far from gone away. Trump was a convenient figurehead for racism, xenophobia, nationalism, and incipient fascism. But, if it was just Trump then he'd be a mad old man yelling incoherently at passers-by. It's because there are people who supported him that Trump got where he did. Those supporters are still around, appear to have utterly failed to learn any sort of a lesson, and could easily latch onto another demagogue.drafsack wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 7:21 pm So Now Trumps gone whats Rog going to do during his live shows now as anti trump rhetoric was the core of his show. There's plenty of evil around for Rog to address in his art, if he is going to make more. Absolutely no shortage of material at all.

Re: Be careful for what you wish for Rog
The fact that Roger has never sought to become a United States citizen, despite living in one of the wealthiest and most exclusive neighborhoods in the country as a tax exile from the UK, undercuts anything he might have to say about either country. He has said he considers himself a "citizen of the world" but I suspect it's primarily another tax dodge. John Lennon spent years fighting to become a US citizen, while the government was actively trying to deport him, and he took it very seriously and succeeded in 1976. Other than the year they spent in France as tax exiles while they were recording The Wall, trying to reduce the money they would owe on their failed investments, the rest of Pink Floyd have remained UK residents; consider that when comparing net worths.

Yeah, Dave and Nick seemed to give more back Tax wise.
I can't see Roger doing a decluttering.
It's all weird. I'm not expecting live returns.
Plus in the UK, on top of leaving Musicians buggered if they want to tour the EU, now LIVESTREAMING is getting some bullshit tax. https://www.loudersound.com/news/live-s ... se-fee-tax
Although that may be for another thread. I still think there's a war on creative industries.

I'm sure I wouldn't have to try very hard to get banned from this forum. Privately-owned companies aren't in the business of promoting whatever horrible thought happens to be in your head. The moment you choose to use someone else's service or product or platform to share your shitty ideas, it's no longer a free speech issue. You can self-publish a book or an album or a newspaper article, but no one is obligated to sell it for you. This is why cults hand out their literature on street corners and in public restrooms. You're free to say a lot of awful things, even here, but if you find yourself reduced to shouting at people in public places, you might be human garbage.

Yeah because The Wall and Dark Side tours were full of Trump. If you think just because one president is gone he'll start to mellow, you're deluded.
