Roger at Roskilde

Post by moonwall »

Back from Roskilde. What a great show! A total experience.
Very good guitars, good keyboard, ddrums and backing vocals, not so good vocals by Roger. But what a feeling!

Here are some links to video clips:
The first one is funny, the second a bit shaky, the third is Shine on...

None of these are mine. A friend of mine recorded, and I will check the result in a day or two. :D

The concert was excellent!!!!
I thought everything was very good, and I really expected Roger's vocals to be worse.
A great setlist, but a weird choice of encores.. And I wish he hadn't played ABITW part 2.
TGGITS disappointed me, I have to say. I really think the singer at Aussie Floyd did it better than this girl did.

I pity the person that recorded Shine On.. He is faaaaaaaaar away..

It was an awesome concert. A thing I'll never forget is that everytime Bush was shown on the screen, mentioned or even just hinted at, the entire crowd booed. Roger was among comrades!

His vocals were great throughout (can't see why moonwall doesn't think so), but I'd hoped that he'd do David's parts as well. I can't see why he can sing "Wish You Were Here" and then leave almost all of DSOTM to Jon Carin. I wanted to hear Roger - not a David Gilmour-impersonator.

And I agree with Ringorocks on "The Great Gig In The Sky" as well; vocally, it was far too restrained and the goosebump-inducing Hammond organ on the album was nowhere to be found here. Kept the tears off my face, which is usually hard for me when listening to the album version! Apart from that, the show was pretty damn excellent and Roger's age didn't show in his performance.

Unless that 10-minute intermission was a Gilmourish pissing break, which one is led to believe after watching the first video!

I think one could hear that his voice is old. He can't take the high notes or "shout" like he (sometimes) used to. But Rogers voice is a very small minus in the whole. It was a splendid concert!

Of course you hear his voice is old. One usually can hear that in old people.
But I agree on the screaming thing, I REALLY missed the scream in Sheep!!!

And I just remembered another bad thing about the concert.
The screen showed boobies during Money, so I had to struggle to cover my boyfriend's eyes rather than actually pay attention to the song!!!! A RW concert is no place for porn!

Markus (the boyfriend says): didn't help much, because i saw it 6 days earlier from very close to the stage

Yeah, I'm just a few years younger than RW ( but still sings like a goddess in the shower :D ), but there's a big change in his voice since I saw him in 2002.

I missed the 'porn' part too, but I don't mind missing it :)

Yeah, green boobies all over the screen.

Yeah, unbelievable concert!

And that orange stage's at feeling at darkening night!
Brain Damage/ Eclipse made me cry... a big time!

And what a great the festival!!!!!!!! No rain at all... amazing just AMAZING!

The Strokes & Franz Ferdinand were also great before that.
Roskilde! See ya next year!

And the lake what they've made, I spent many hours there everyday.

Did he play the same set-list than in the rest of the tour? I read somewhere that he'd play a shorter set at Roskilde and other festivals.

The Final Cut songs were Southampton Dock and The Fletcher Memorial Home. I'm not too familar with the album, but I recognised those two.

Oh, and he played WYWH too!
