To go with the Black Strat Fender have finally realised Roger Waters played Precision basses exclusively since 1969, and have given him his own bass.

Looks like a historic mismatch of styles. The lack of truss-rod access on the headstock looks like they are reusing MIM Classic '50s necks (historically inaccurate). Also I'm not so keen on the all-black hardware (knobs and bridge).

What are the differences between a regular Fender Precision and the one Roger has been using for the las 40 years? Did he modified it in some way?

Re: Fender reveals new Roger Waters Precision Bass!!!!
He had one-ply black pickguards put on them around 1977. I think he might have replaced some necks as well, but the things were stock. His sound was purely those Rotosound 77 flat strings he used.
Ironically the Fender model seems to come without flatwound strings, so it won't sound like Rog's signature sound. The Fender model comes with a Duncan quarter pounder (I think) pickup which Roger never used. Roger never had all black hardware either.
I guess Fender are cashing in on his Wall tour by making a massively inaccurate replica of Roger's basses. Maybe Roger stipulated the modifications himself but I don't see that somehow.

If it had a forcefield that repels sharpened coins being thrown at you and gives you the ability to be two miliseconds out of time when you shout "Oh for fack's sake, stop letting off firewurks and shouting as I'm trying to sing a song!" as well as having an inbuilt storage for liquids, then YOU TOO could play out your Roger Waters fantasies!
