Waters has said that this present tour will be his last.
Not much point in releasing a new album if there isn't going to be a tour behind it, is there?
New Roger Waters album?

...except for The Final Cut and Amused to Death
so thats two he has put out with no tour
better a new album with no tour than yet another tour with no new album
Mosespapa youre not going to go see him live anyway are you?

Can I be a Mosesson?J Ed wrote: Mosespapa
As for Jolly Roger, he seems to be touring with The Moon and The Wall, like, for eternity. And I still haven't gotten round to see that bastard!

There were plans to tour The Final Cut before they got scrapped due to lack on interest on the band's part...and Amused To Death was going to have a tour before poor sales indicated to Roger that there wasn't any point in touring.J Ed wrote:...except for The Final Cut and Amused to Death

You examples are insufficient and your point pointless, sir.

Re: New Roger Waters album?
Roger never said that is his last tour, he said that The Wall Tour would be him last tour of this dimension.
He problably wants to do small tours. He is a songwritter, he needs to keep writing songs and working with music.

Was he bordering on 70 when he released those albums?mosespa wrote:There were plans to tour The Final Cut before they got scrapped due to lack on interest on the band's part...and Amused To Death was going to have a tour before poor sales indicated to Roger that there wasn't any point in touring.

It's a different game now for him. No more tours doesn't equal retirement, necessarily.

Yeah, since he's reportedly been adding bits and pieces to this for years i'd be surprised if it never came to fruition in some form or another. Likewise with The Wall broadway show.

I don't believe that a tour of The Final Cut was ever planned or even discussed. If you have some evidence (a quote?) to back up this statement perhaps you'd be good enough to post it?mosespa wrote: There were plans to tour The Final Cut before they got scrapped due to lack on interest on the band's part...

Re: New Roger Waters album?
Not true . This was a joke/prank published in the old TAP fanzine that keeps getting dug up every few years. A tour of The Final Cut album was never considered as the band were totally "fractured" by this time.
Even the OP of that thread admits that this was a (bad) April Fools joke...
drafsack wrote:I confess - April Fool. I have to admit when I read this artical in "The amazing pudding" fanzine a couple of years ago it had me thinking as some of it is based on truth ie the tour rumours from that time, band personal of the time, the video ep etc. What clinched it for me was using St. Austell Coliseum its a hole.

The infamously canceled Final Cut Tour is kind of a well established inside joke tradition over here

The 'Final Cut Tour' joke reminds me of this one guy at my old work called Andy. He had the same two jokes he ran with every single day I worked next to him. One was saying "You've got something on your shoe" which made you lift your heel to which he would then say "Hello sailor!" in a camp voice. The other was to ask you what you had for breakfast, the obligatory answer was "mince" said in a camp accent. Every. Fucking. Day.
The Final Cut Tour approaches Andy Kaufman levels of humour (or lack of) but because it appears here in NPF every year it is quite amusing still. Sad to see it was mooched off some defunct fanzine somewhere because I feel that whilst we have more rare Floyd at our fingertips now than back then there is also some sort of community missing. Oh well.
