I asked Roger's manager any news on The Wall Live DVD and he said there was no news. So, the news is... there is no news. Just thought I would share.

Perhaps no news is good news. Hopefully that means that the tour is 100% sure to continue in 2013. If you wanted to get the dvd out for Christmas you'd have to be thinking about it by now surely.
Anyway, there is a pro-shot version from Chicago 2010 on youtube. Dont worry Roger and EMI Ive money waiting to see the show at least three more times, buy the DVD and buy the 80-81 dvd as well. You just have to make them available to me and then I promise not to watch that nasty youtube ever again

Now you say that Roon, Im thinking there are no shots from actually on the stage. I kinda had it in my mind that they maybe got a local production company to make a quick recording of the show just to get an rough idea of how it all looked. I know they recorded just London and Athens for the actual dvd, is that right?
If your are telling me this was cobbled together from someone and his mates to get all the different camera angles then they SHOULD be professionals! I've even put it through my HD projector and apart from the fact the sound is not 5.1 I cant imagine the official release being much better.

There is a big ambience on the Chicago video that suggests it is not a professional audio mix. That snare drum just booms out. I think that a) The live sound that night was well mixed and 2) it was well recorded.

Bootleggers always used to meet up and record from various positions to then matrix together the two recorders or whatever. Pink Floyd's 1972 Holywood Bowl set was recorded from multiple tapers AND 8mm was shot, so it is hardly surprising that with all the cool solid-state cigarette-packet sized gear going around that some really pro bootlegs can be made.

I can't believe I missed this, only just saw it after seeing this thread.

I really hope The Wall Live DVD/Blu-ray is a huge package with lots of extras and the original 80/81 recording.

I think the DVD will be released in 2020. If everything goes fine. Don't be disappointed if it will be 2030 or later. Or never.
