Depp's a good actor in my opinion. Definitely goes out on a limb with the characters he plays, But I agree with you all:
DON'T LET HOLLYWEIRD TOUCH IT!! It will turn into a piece of sensationalized crap. Let the Brit's do it in style; get RRosemary on board as a creative consultant/executive producer. This will make it real. The good & the bad of Syd Barrett, [...]

I think with Rosemary, you'll only get the "good" of Barrett. It would become a movie about just an ordinary guy doing his garden.

I think Pink Floyd should make a deal with Disney. This would result in an animated movie with some minor alterations to make it suitable as Disney movie. Barrett as a fairy tale hero who did or did not eat a poisoned apple.

There already is an animated movie of Barrett, about 30 seconds long. It shows what "really" happened during the recording of 'If It's In You':

There is a script that is out there at the moment apparently. It has to be agreeable to both the family and the Floyd so there will be several rewrites no doubt.

Andrew Lincoln as Rick Wright. With wigs and make up stubble, ask actor to slightly squint.
That's the first thing I can think of. No news on Syd biopic. Plus it's gone tits up for Depp recently with his dog smuggling!
