Then, it would be: how did you feel when you began to lose your hair? Was that the real cause of your mental breakdown and identity crisis that led you to change your name back to Roger?

You created the greatest music movement of all time. Do you ever think about the impact you had on music aficionados worldwide?

What you think about all those people trying to make you a legend and over-exagerating your influence?

None. The Rolling Stones stuck the 12 minute Going Home on Aftermath, which was an in-studio jam. Pink Floyd's psychedelicness was more the product of the musical ineptitude of Roger Waters than anything, and also Syd's guitar style, which was a bit basic. They couldn't play all the tight-as-hell Graham Bond Organisation/John Mayal/Alexis Korner blues music that was the deal then, so they had to make their own noise, which borrowed heavily from the blues. You could just as easily thank Binson for making the first self-oscillating echo units, providing Pink Floyd with equipment that shifted their sound away from the blues.

Pink Floyd had little influence on the American scene either. Country Joe and the Fish, The Grateful Dead etc... took their cues as much from Appalachian folk and blue-collar music as they did from psychadelic drugs etc etc etc... When Pink Floyd broke into America, it was as a coochy pop band, not a glacial, culture changing phenomenon.

Where Syd Barrett *might* have had an influence is with all the limp-wristed indie kiddos in the 1990s and 2000s. Pink Floyd had an influence on some Krautrock bands, with their going-for-broke weirdness.

Are you a tit man or an ass man?

(I think I would have loved to been in the band when Syd suggested adding a couple of sax playing chicks - I would have been on his side).

Yeah, man! I'd join the band. I think "Guk" would be a good name.
