Magnesium Proverbs: The True Life Story of Syd

Post by zag »

Here´s the first part of Julian Palacious seven-part documentary on Syd, using pieces from everywhere (stock footage, rare photos and tracks, snippets from other docs, and
lots more).

Absolutely brilliant work imo.

Ah a Syd documentary. I can't get the vid to open. As far as reading, looks like much of what we already know. Would love to see some un-earthed pics tho. He was a babe as well as a brilliant musician.

ETERNAL ISOLATION- please pm me here if you see this. Important.

Make sure you have Flash player installed. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

That video is 98% irrelevant. Not about Syd Barrett. Badly edited and effects and other gimmics used for the sake of it. It would be nice if the other parts are better.

:( I can't install that. I do internet from my droid phone. It has to have that specific app. :(

But thanks for letting me know I didn't miss much. So many Syd stories but only the Great One himself could tell his true life story.

I had a look and it is really well done. Looks like only the first part is posted. Didn't find anything beyond the first part.

I like this part for showing Barrett's environment. For example pictures of the fairground in his youth.
I dislike this part for being long-winded. It even took me a while before I realized what I was looking at.

I really like these videos. They are warm and loving and put Barrett's world into perspective with some fantastic old footage and nice views of how it is now. The music is nice too: rather than the same old thing we get a well-done reworking that captures the spirit for life in Barrett's tunes. There are some nice photos and good talking heads.

I wouldn't expect to learn much new from this or gain exclusive material, it's a Syd-friendly trip down memory lane that is not glossy and yet is not overly amateurish. It is, in effect, the antithesis of 'An Introduction To Syd Barrett', an insider's view for friends, family and fans.

A breath of fresh air from the corporate and mainstream crap with no pretensions and not trying to be anything other than what it is.

Very nice!
