Syd Barrett's overlooked talent

With all that's written about Syd, one talent of his I've *never* seen praised: his very excellent singing voice. If you were to ask someone how old the singer is, I think most people would guess someone in their 40's, based on the rich maturity of the voice. Syd's voice is so pleasant. It is smooth and expressive. And very versatile: he can make it harsh when he wants and mellifluous when he wants.

I respect your opinion, but I don't think his voice sounded all that aged. However, that's not the point, I understand. He had a beautiful voice and when he sounds down, I can't help but father him (I can't mother him since I'm a man ) .

I think Syd's voice is more like an acquired taste than an overlooked talent.

I don't know about "overlooked", but never before has anyone sung lyrics like "On clouds of sunlight floating by..." with such child-like innocence and whimsicality.
