Keith, I have always wondered about the costs and profits of the Olympics, and it is hard to find the truth. But, the profits to be made are often the selling point. However, I have often heard profits are hard to come by. One example of an article: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/bus ... 10-01.html

As a Pink Floyd fan, the 1976 Montréal Olympics is an an interesting one.

Because the stadium built for the Olympics was where Roger spit on a fan in 1977, which influenced the making of the Wall, and the Wall album inside cover shows a stadium which looks like the same stadium.

The opening ceremony will celebrate all things British and they've added a penalty miss competition to give some idea of what it's like to be English.

I'm watching the Murray - Federer match, it's looking like Murray might just win the gold.

Really! Someone should just put a friendly arm round Justin Gatlin's shoulder and say 'your a c***. Fuck off!'

I watched the opening ceremony for the Mike Oldfield performance, which I enjoyed. Don't care much for sports, so I quickly lost interest.

Our boxers are doing us very proud in the olympics.

Katie Taylor fighting tomorrow for gold

Three male boxers all in semis this week, so at least 4 medals guaranteed.

Asked and answered. I have the upmost respect for Michael Johnson, and his accomplishments. He of course is entitled to his opinion as is everyone. 8)

Michael Johnson is a class act. Delighted the BBC got him for their coverage!
