It's very amusing when some people berate Roger for singing Pink Floyd songs live under his own banner, or when a promoter advertises one of Roger's shows with the headline "The Creative Genius Behind Pink Floyd," but then have nothing bad to say when, for example, David Gilmour's DVD is advertised at PINK FLOYD's HOME PAGE!

Another example of David Gilmour UNFAIRLY using PINK FLOYD to promote his solo career: Some of David Gilmour's concerts were advertised at PINKFLOYD.com when Emka Productions, Steve O'Rourke's company, first purchased the domain last year.

David probably had nothing to do with the promotion of his DVD! Sony have it on their server and it just so happens that they used to Floyd address to resolve to that part of the server. in david's defense, I don't think he would have suggested that! But perhaps...

You are right about the David Gilmour concerts being advertised on http://www.pinkfloyd.com but he is not using the official Pink Floyd sites for advertising his DVD.....have you had a good look around http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk or http://www.pinkfloyd.com lately? there are no links to information on the dvd or anything to do with his solo career.....he is simply using the pinkfloyd.co.uk server to store the .mov file.....and why shouldn't he?

Why shouldn't he? PinkFloyd.co.uk is Pink Floyd's homepage, not David Gilmour's.

An application promoting David Gilmour's DVD can be downloaded by clicking the link http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/dg/download/DavidGilmour.zip. I consider that promoting his DVD on Pink Floyd's homepage. You don't. That's all there is to it, I guess.

Would you be singing a different tune if, for example, Roger's DVD had been promoted at a site owned by Roger Waters' management that contained the name Pink Floyd in its domain name? I'm sure we'd certainly be hearing about it on Echoes, just like how we heard on there earlier this year a bunch of bitching over a few promoters promoting Roger's ITF shows with the headline "The Creative Genius Behind Pink Floyd." I can't believe some of those folks. They complain over the actions of a few promoters, yet refuse to acknowledge the fact that David Gilmour's solo career was promoted at PinkFloyd.com initially after Steve O'Rourke's Emka Productions bought the domain.

That download is not a part of the Pinkfloyd.co.uk website as you cannot access the file from the entry page of the website. It just resides on the Sony servers. These are not Pink Floyd servers but Sony. The URL pinkfloyd.co.uk just redirects you to the server so it has very little to do with Pink Floyd IMO. :D

I totally agree with you Keith......you explained more clearly what i was trying to say......

as for Roger using the name Pink Floyd in the promotion of his tour, i see nothing wrong with that either.....the majority of songs performed on the tour were wirtten by him while he was in Pink Floyd......i don't have any problem with using the name Pink Floyd to promote anything to do with him playing Pink Floyd music......
